HARTFORD -- A tanker truck filled with 56,000 pounds of grain rolled over on a Washington County highway Thursday afternoon, State Police said.

As a 1999 Mack truck pulled onto the shoulder of State Route 40 in Hartford to assist another vehicle about 12:26 p.m., the soft shoulder gave way and the tanker caught a guard wire, tipping into its side, troopers said.

The driver, 41-year-old Jamie J. Gemo from Ferrishburgh, Vt., was not injured or ticketed, State Police said.

The grain and the tanker truck's 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled during the crash, troopers said. The Cratosslot state Department of Environmental Conservation spill response team assisted with the cleanup.
