"The Bavarian wave" - The current corona numbers explained for you

107,819 corona cases were reported to the RKI yesterday.

In the previous week comparison, there is a minus of almost two percent.

For the first time since the end of May, there has been a decline on two working days in a row compared to the previous week.

The 7-day incidence drops from 740 to 729 today.

It is in the red in ten of the 16 federal states.

In Germany as a whole, the incidence increased only slowly from a high level in July.

In seven of the 16 federal states, the incidence is even lower than at the beginning of the month (all seven are among the eleven in which the summer holidays have already begun).

The federal state in which the incidence has risen the most since July 1st - and also compared to the previous week - is Bavaria.

The Free State now has the third-highest incidence among the federal states, right after Saarland and Hesse.

And: A good half of the urban and rural districts in Germany that have an incidence of more than 1000 are in Bavaria - namely 38 out of 75.

113 corona deaths were reported to the RKI yesterday, two fewer than a week ago.

In total, we are at 528 deceased in the current week.

Every day we hear the new Corona case numbers. But what do they mean, where are we in the pandemic and what is the trend? Olaf Gersemann explains and evaluates the current figures briefly and concisely - every morning anew.
