Erfurt (dpa/th) - A 75-year-old wrong-way driver caused a traffic accident in Erfurt - people were not injured. The man drove on Tuesday afternoon for an unexplained reason against the direction of travel on the two-lane Konrad-Adenauer-Straße, as the police announced on Wednesday. Two oncoming drivers aged 32 and 25 were able to avoid him by braking hard and thus preventing a head-on collision with the 75-year-old's car.
In the course of the evasive manoeuvre, however, there was a rear-end collision, in which, according to the police, damage to property amounted to around 2500 euros. The police confiscated the pensioner's driver's license and initiated criminal proceedings against him.
