Weimar (dpa/th) - After ten days, the occupation of parts of the Bauhaus University in Weimar is to be ended. As of Wednesday evening, the rooms in the main building of the university should be cleared, as the activists said. Since Monday last week, the young people, who say they are students at the university, have occupied several rooms. With their action they wanted to express their criticism of the existing social conditions. They announced a public event for Wednesday evening.
In the past week, an intensive exchange between the university management and the activists took place, said a spokeswoman for the university on Wednesday when asked. Since the end of last week, however, all further offers of talks by the university management have been rejected by the squatters. According to the spokeswoman, the student convention was able to mediate between the university management and the activists at a meeting on Tuesday.
