Thuringia: Bohm wants successor plan for 9-euro ticket

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Shortly before the 9-euro ticket expires at the end of the month, the Thuringian Green Party leader Ann-Sophie Bohm spoke out in favor of a successor plan. At the same time, Bohm spoke out in favor of a uniform transport association for the entire Free State, as the state association announced on Thursday in Erfurt. Specifically, Bohm named a nationwide valid 49-euro ticket and a 29-euro ticket for commuters.

In view of rising prices, the 9-euro ticket was a "real contribution to relieving the burden on many people with little money". It turned out that people wanted cheap local transport without a ticket labyrinth. "We can't just let that run out without replacement."

The 9-euro ticket had boosted demand for local public transport in Thuringia. According to estimates by the State Office for Construction and Transport, it has almost doubled in the area of regional rail transport. Passengers were even more interested in buses and trams.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the run in local rail transport was particularly large on international connections such as Nuremberg-Jena-Leipzig, Erfurt-Würzburg, Erfurt-Göttingen, Leipzig-Gera-Hof, Nordhausen-Halle or Erfurt-Kassel. This has also led to problems with overcrowded trains and annoyed passengers who, for example, cannot take their bicycles with them.

Thuringia's Transport Minister Susanna Karawanskij (left) had also spoken out in favor of a successor model. She suggested a climate ticket - for example as a year-round 365 euro ticket.
