Thuringia: Construction prices in Thuringia have risen sharply

Erfurt (dpa/th) - Rising costs have pushed up construction prices in Thuringia. In August, builders in the Free State had to pay 23.2 percent more for the construction of new residential buildings than a year ago, as the State Statistical Office announced on Tuesday in Erfurt. From May to August, construction prices rose by 4.9 percent.

The main reason given by companies for the rise in prices was increased transport costs as a result of rising fuel prices. Labor and material costs have also increased, it said. The above-average increase in construction work prices are influenced by the current development of raw materials on the world market.

According to the information, the prices for roofing and sealing increased most in the shell construction work (plus 38.1 percent). There were enormous increases in the cost of insulation and fire protection work on technical systems (plus 52.2 percent) and glazing work (plus 47.5 percent). For heating systems and central water heating systems, builders had to shell out 34.5 percent more than in the same period last year.
