Thuringia: Forest inventory: outdoor recording completed by the end of the year

Erfurt (dpa/th) - What about the Thuringian Forest? To answer this question, three specially trained teams have been out and about in the forests of the federal state since June 2021 and have collected data. At the end of the year, the outdoor recording will be completed on time, as the Thuringian Forest announced on Tuesday.

Among other things, the type, diameter and height of around 30,000 trees were recorded. A total of 150 different characteristics were recorded - including the volume of dead wood.

According to the Thuringian Forest, the large-scale forest inventory is carried out every ten years and is intended to provide data on "the condition, development and forest production possibilities of the forest in Germany". Results should be available by the end of 2024.
