Thuringia: Greens: Vaccination has nothing to do with practice dying

Erfurt (dpa/th) - In the debate about the future of health care in Thuringia, the Greens warned against drawing the wrong conclusions. The institution-related vaccination requirement in the healthcare system has nothing to do with the fact that the number of medical practices is falling, especially in rural areas, said Green Party leader Astrid Rothe-Beinlich on Wednesday in Erfurt in the state parliament. There are structural reasons that have led to fewer and fewer young doctors deciding to set up their own practice.

"That means the system has to change fundamentally." Among other things, young people today have ideas about the compatibility of family and career that often cannot be reconciled with running their own practice.

The CDU health politician Christoph Zippel gave the reason for the falling number of medical practices in Thuringia that there was too little appreciation for the staff in the medical practices. Proof of this is that, unlike the nursing staff in the clinics, no corona premiums were provided for the nursing staff in the doctor’s offices. The vaccination requirement in the healthcare system applies to nurses in practices as well as to nurses in clinics. The facility-related vaccination requirement is to expire at the end of the year.
