Thuringia: Investigations against ex-head of the Thuringian AWO set

Mühlhausen/Erfurt (dpa/th) - The public prosecutor's office in Mühlhausen has closed the investigation against several former executives of the AWO Thuringia on suspicion of infidelity. There is no "sufficient suspicion," the public prosecutor told MDR Thuringia.

It was determined on suspicion of infidelity. In 2020, the head of the AWO subsidiary for the elderly, youth and social welfare (AJS) gGmbH was criticized for months, among other things, because of excessive salaries. The former managing director and his co-managing directors then asked to be released from their duties, which was ultimately carried out. The manager was then dismissed without notice.

The public prosecutor's office informed the MDR that there was no breach of duty that was criminally relevant to the offense of infidelity by reducing the ASJ's assets because of the salary increase. "The increase in the annual salaries of the managing directors did not exceed the scope for assessment and discretion that a company is granted under criminal law for such an increase."
