Erfurt (dpa/th) - Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) has proposed a 28-euro ticket for young people in Thuringia. It could be introduced if the federal government makes a financing decision on the 49-euro ticket that has been discussed for weeks, Ramelow said on Wednesday in Erfurt at an event organized by the Left Party. "The federal government must deliver now." The 28-euro ticket could be a supplementary Thuringian regulation for schoolchildren, trainees and students up to the age of 28. "We want to change the tariff system and end the unequal treatment of young people."
According to the ideas of the head of government, the cheap ticket is intended as a replacement for the existing trainee ticket and the ticket for students. It could also be used by high school seniors who are currently past a certain age and would no longer be able to take advantage of student transport.
According to the left-wing politician, new, cheap tickets that are valid nationwide and, like a 28-euro ticket, nationwide, should go hand in hand with the expansion of local public transport. This presupposes that the federal government does not cut its payments for local public transport, but increases the funds.
