Erfurt (dpa/th) - After complaints about too long processing times for the ascent Bafög, a remedy is now to be found. As the petitions committee of the state parliament announced on Thursday, applicants will receive short-term advance payments under certain conditions. The Thuringian state administration office also wants to hire staff to process the applications.
The Petitions Committee had dealt with the issue because there had been complaints about the processing times for applications lasting several months. In addition, there was a processing backlog of around 1,350 applications at the state administration office. This situation is not acceptable.
Ascent Bafög can be given to people who are continuing their professional education. For many, it is simply not possible to financially bridge several months, according to the Petitions Committee.
