Thuringia: Thuringia extends existing corona rules

Erfurt (dpa/th) - In view of the low number of infections, there are still moderate mask and test requirements in Thuringia. The current regulations will continue unchanged until December 23, the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday in Erfurt. Mouth and nose protection must continue to be worn in local public transport, but it does not necessarily have to be an FFP2 mask. A medical mask is therefore sufficient. Vaccinated and recovered people in hospitals and nursing homes and the employees there remain exempt from the test obligation.

Thuringia currently has the lowest corona incidence nationwide. The number of weekly infections per 100,000 inhabitants was 178.8 in Bavaria on Thursday, according to the Robert Koch Institute. The corona infection situation in Thuringia has thus eased further. A week ago, the seven-day incidence was 198.8. Across Germany, the seven-day value for new infections on Thursday was 262.3.

However, the numbers are only meaningful to a limited extent, since only the cases detected by means of a PCR test are counted by the health authorities. Many doctors now do without such a test.

Health Minister Heike Werner (left) urged caution despite the low numbers compared to the federal government. After two years of Corona, other cold and respiratory diseases would occur more frequently this autumn. Werner therefore further recommended wearing a mask voluntarily if minimum distances could not be maintained or if many people came together indoors.
