A nighttime shelling of a poultry farm in the occupied Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine left at least 5 people dead and 19 injured, Russian authorities said on Wednesday, accusing Kiev of carrying out the strike. "The bombardment of the village of Karpaty [located 35 kilometers west of Luhansk, editor's note] by Ukrainian armed groups [...] caused 24 victims - 5 killed and 19 wounded", indicated on Telegram the Russian Control Center the security situation in the Luhansk region.
The poultry farm and a site where workers lived temporarily were damaged, according to the same source, which does not specify whether the victims are soldiers or civilians. But in a first assessment, published a few hours earlier, it had indicated that four workers had been killed.
The strike was carried out, according to preliminary information, by a HIMARS multiple rocket launcher delivered by the United States to kyiv, the source said. "The enemy fired four rockets," she said. The Luhansk region, neighboring that of Donetsk, is largely occupied by the Russian army and is one of the four Ukrainian territories which Moscow claimed for annexation last September.
