Europe The tragic end of Leslie and Kevin, the young people who disappeared in November in France

Leslie Hoorelbeke and Kevin Trompat, 22 and 21 years old, went missing last November in a small town in the French commune of Deux-Sèvres, and in these four months both the investigators and their families kept hoping that they would find them alive. They hoped they had run away together, although of all the hypotheses that was the least likely. Everything points to a tragic outcome. Two lifeless bodies have been found this weekend, buried tens of kilometers from each other, a hundred from the town where they both disappeared.

After months of emptiness, without news or progress in the investigation, the agents had accelerated the investigations in recent days and had first interrogated, then arrested, three people, young people between 22 and 23 years old and two of them acquaintances of the couple. . The bodies found, one of a man and the other of a woman, have been found following the instructions of one of the detainees. He believes that behind this outcome there is a matter of drug trafficking.

The woman's body appeared on Saturday in the Virson forest, a town of 700 inhabitants near Sugères (Charente-Maritime). The man's was unearthed on Friday in Puyravault, about 40 kilometers away. This Sunday the bodies had not yet been identified and an autopsy was performed on them, although many French media already take it for granted that they are those of the young people.

The couple disappeared in the early hours of November 25-26, as they were going home after spending the evening with a friend. They were going to the house of another friend, Tom, who had lent it to them for the night, and who is in provisional detention. Along with the young people, her dog, Onyx, also disappeared, about whom nothing is known.

Now accused of kidnapping, he was questioned this week. In all this time, he had participated in the search for the young people, had organized raids with their families and had even spoken to the press. Another of the detainees is Nathan Badki, 22, an acquaintance of the couple but who was not a close friend. In his case, he is accused of murder and kidnapping, among other crimes.

There are still many questions in this case, after which the investigators believe that there is a matter of drug trafficking. Although at first the option of voluntary flight was valued, they quickly discarded this alternative and opted more for the criminal track. The day he disappeared, Kevin had 10,000 euros on him. He's supposed to buy a car, even though he didn't have a driver's license.

This money would be to buy narcotics, according to the statement of one of the detainees, Tom, and the one who was supposedly going to house the couple on the night of their disappearance, says Le Parisien. There is a third detainee, 23 years old, who is also accused of the same detainees and is in provisional detention after having given a statement before the judge.
