MONARCHY The allocation of Kings Felipe and Letizia rises 2.5% this year

The Kings Don Felipe and Doña Letizia have adjusted their allocation to the salary increase of public employees motivated by inflation. Specifically, Felipe VI will collect 269,296 euros gross this year in 12 payments, 10,369 euros more than in 2022, when his allocation from the State was 258,927 euros.

The increase in Don Felipe's allowance is not the only one in the House, since both Doña Letizia and Doña Sofía also see an increase in their 'salary' compared to last year. Thus, the wife of Felipe VI will receive 148,105 and her mother, 121,186 euros.

The distribution of the allocations of the Royal House arises from the budget granted by the Government. This year it amounts to 8.43 million euros. As this newspaper has already published, it is the same budget for the last three years and the Royal House is the only institution to which Pedro Sánchez has not increased the allocation despite the increase in inflation.

The 538,587 euros reserved for the Royal Family are part of the 4.7 million euros of personnel expenses -4.5 million in 2022-, the largest item in the budget of the King's House, which represents 56% of the total, reports EFE.

Current expenses on goods and services have a heading of 2.7 million euros, 0.83 percent more than in 2022, of which 1.8 million are for office supplies, communications, insurance and contracts with companies of services and 605,000 euros, for protocol and representative attentions.

The investment chapter drops to 746,000 euros (965,348 last year), an amount that will be applied mainly in the digital transformation plan of the Casa del Rey started in 2019, as indicated on the website.

The contingency fund of the Casa del Rey is frozen at 168,000 euros, since it is set at 2 percent of the budget.

It should be remembered that of the six members of the Royal Family, only the Kings Don Felipe and Doña Letizia and Queen Sofía receive a public allowance. The Monarch withdrew his assignment from Don Juan Carlos in 2020 after his private movements were made public. In addition, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, still of school age, do not receive an allowance.

Of the money that Don Felipe receives from the public coffers, it is known that he saves everything. Thus, when Zarzuela made the King's estate public, the 2.5 million he had at that time corresponded to the total amount received since Juan Carlos I granted him an assignment as Prince of Asturias.
