He was born in the city of Lyon in the 7th century. From a very young age he dedicated himself to the profession of blacksmith and locksmith. He always tried to help the poorest with the earnings from his work or even by selling tools that he made.
His free time was dedicated to prayer and spiritual reading of the Holy Scripture. He was greatly admired and respected for his pious life.
The abbot of the Monastery of San Justo was surprised by Baldomero's austere life and offered him a cell in his monastery as a monk. There he lived a stage exercising the same trade that he had carried out abroad.
The Bishop of Lyon ordained him as a subdeacon. Several miracles are attributed to San Baldomero, patron saint of blacksmiths. Part of his remains rest in the Church of Saint Galmier.
