The National Police have arrested a violent fugitive claimed by the Croatian authorities and who was on the list of Europol's most wanted fugitives since 2019 in a central Madrid hotel.

The arrested man had a legal claim in force for his involvement in a brawl that occurred in a Croatian nightclub and faces a life sentence for other serious crimes that caused "great social alarm" in his country, reports the General Directorate of Police .

The fugitive, a month before the last fight for which he was wanted, had tried to kill another man with a firearm, also in Croatia. Thus, he was included in Europol's "European Most Wanted" list.

Police investigations centered the fugitive in Barcelona after having spent last Christmas in Ibiza.

The agents found out that he had met his partner in a central Madrid hotel on the 20th, when he was arrested in a device in which security measures were extreme.

The fugitive carried that he used to avoid being discovered.
