A prison employee was seriously injured in an attempted hostage-taking in the Schleswig youth facility. A 20-year-old inmate suddenly attacked the woman when she opened the cell door on Saturday afternoon and severely injured her head, the head of the facility in Schleswig said.
According to the findings so far, the prisoner attacked the employee with punches and kicks. "His obvious attempt to take hostages and then escape failed due to the general security precautions of the prison," the prison director said. When asked, however, she did not explain why the escape failed.

The perpetrator, a German, is said to be serving a youth sentence of two years and two months for robbery with bodily harm. He was transferred to the security department of the Lübeck prison on Saturday evening.
