Do not address 51-year-olds: police are looking for Oberhausen shooters with a picture

A dispute escalated in front of a fast-food restaurant in the Ruhr area at the weekend and shots were fired. Three people are injured, one critically. The police are now looking for the alleged perpetrator publicly with a photo - and warn against him.

The police are looking for the shooter, who is said to have shot three people in front of a fast food restaurant in Oberhausen. A homicide commission is now publicly looking for a photo of the 51-year-old suspect from Essen. However, the police appealed not to speak to the suspect. He could still be armed.

According to the first findings of the investigators, a dispute between two groups suddenly escalated on Saturday evening so that there was a physical argument and then shots were fired. Three people were injured as a result. A 49-year-old suffered a life-threatening shot in the stomach. According to the investigators, after an emergency operation, there is no longer any danger to life. A 47-year-old woman was shot in the leg and a 28-year-old man in the arm.

According to initial reports, the suspected shooter fled in a car. Rescue workers took the injured to hospitals. The investigators assume that the injured are not accidental victims, but that a meeting was arranged - and that more people were involved on both sides. A spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office said it may have been about business matters.

Recordings from surveillance cameras should now provide further insight into the course of the crime. Just two and a half hours after the shots were fired in the Ruhr area city of Oberhausen, police officers provisionally arrested a 40-year-old man in Gelsenkirchen. He is said to have been present at the act but not shot. He was still in police custody on Sunday.

The Essen police will receive information about the whereabouts of the 51-year-old on 0201/829-0.
