Midsummer is saying goodbye - but not without driving the thermometer over the 30-degree mark for the last time, at least in parts of the country. Then a change in the weather will probably end the extreme drought of this summer.
After the meteorological start of autumn on September 1st, our weather is now also preparing to slowly swing in the direction of autumn. After a partly still hot start to the week, the low pressure areas are increasingly pressing us.
At the beginning, between the Scandinavian high "Quintin" and the Atlantic low "Peggy", very warm Mediterranean air blows again to Germany. In the west there are again hot 30 degrees and more. Perhaps for the last time this year, because after that the weather conditions will gradually change: on Tuesday and Wednesday to muggy and warm air with strong thunderstorms in places, which will be followed by a thorough and sustained cooling on Thursday.
A change in the weather that not only leads us in the direction of the 20 degree mark and below in terms of temperature, but which should also end the summer drought in many places. In short: turbulent times are ahead of us - especially since the lows in the Atlantic are approaching and at the same time the remnants of former tropical storms and hurricanes could also affect the weather. This is especially true for the second week of September. But here's a look at the new weather week with the end of the midsummer-like weather in Germany.
Monday: heat focus on the Rhine track with up to 32 degrees
The new week begins very sunny in the south, otherwise friendly and mostly dry. Only along the low mountain ranges could there be enough rain. Only in the afternoon and evening do new downpours appear west of the Rhine. The warmest day of the weather week awaits us beforehand - often with 25 to 32 degrees. It is cooler northeast of the Elbe with 20 to 24 degrees.
Tuesday: The air becomes muggy and brings more thunder and lightning
We can expect a mix of sun and clouds, which will repeatedly produce thunderstorms and sometimes intense thunderstorms during the course of the day. Only north-east of the Elbe is it still dry. The temperatures: 19 to 24 degrees in the north-east and in the mountains, otherwise quite humid 24 to 28 degrees.
Wednesday: New thunderstorms, some with severe weather
From the west, the weather is cracking again. The next thunderstorm lines thunder across the country and have local storms with heavy rain, hail and squalls in the program. In addition, the values sometimes reach a muggy 19 to 27 degrees. It is warmest in Breisgau, freshest on the Baltic Sea.
From Thursday a different breeze will blow
From Thursday up to and including Sunday it will continue to be very changeable. Repeated showers and thunderstorms pass through - storms are still conceivable. Also at the start: the sun - but at a completely different temperature level. On Thursday it will still be 18 to 24 degrees, at the weekend it will only be 15 to 22 degrees. In short: the summer is getting farther away and the really big drought should hopefully be over.
