The Russian media RT, financed by the Kremlin, will have to register as a foreign agent in the United States no later than next Monday, as reported by the company on its website. If you do not comply with this requirement, Russia's RT-acronym RODAY-faces possible arrests or the freezing of your accounts.
The qualification of "foreign agent" implies that a person or entity operates in U.S. territory in defense of the interests of another country, something to be informed, within the framework of the Law FARA (Law of Registration of foreign agents), which dates from 1938. According to RT, the Department of Justice sent a letter to the company claiming that it be registered as such, due to the work done by the television network.

The measure takes place in the midst of the inventigación of the so-called Russian plot, which is the interference of Moscow in the presidential elections of a year ago (which Washington gives by proven) and the possible collusion of the campaign of Donald Trump with that strategy.

Twitter announced last October that it would veto the announcements of both RT and Sputnik, another medium of great relevance in Russia. They can continue to publish on the social network, but not decide which additional audience will see its content.
"We have not reached this conclusion in haste, but it is part of our commitment to help protect the integrity of Twitter users ' experience," says Twitter blog.
