2 and a half years after his departure, Sébastien Thoen returns to Canal

Sébastien Thoen will make his big comeback on Canal, without it being known for the moment what the role of the former troublemaker will be, reveals Le Parisien. This real comeback seemed unlikely two years ago. After a sketch parodying "L'heure des pros" by Pascal Praud (officiating on CNews, another channel of the Canal group), where he interpreted a parody of Jean Messiha, Sébastien Thoen had been dismissed.

At the time, this decision was attributed to the boss of the Canal group, Vincent Bolloré. But according to Le Parisien, the founding businessman of Vivendi seems to have changed his mind. He would again appreciate the humor of someone who found a way out by officiating at Laurent Ruquier's "Big Heads" on the RTL radio station.

At the start of 2021, nearly 70 group employees, the majority of whom came from the sports department, had demonstrated in Boulogne-Billancourt in front of the Canal headquarters. A number of them, including among the close supporters of Vincent Bolloré, then spoke out against this decision. By recalling Sébastien Thoen, the boss of Vivendi therefore wishes to play the appeasement card.
