Because of inflation: Amazon Prime Video is becoming more expensive

Customers of the streaming service Amazon Prime Video woke up on Tuesday morning (July 26) with bad news. The company Amazon informs its German customers via email notification with the subject "Important change to your Prime membership" that the prices of the monthly and annual subscriptions are increasing.

In future, the monthly subscription will cost 8.99 euros instead of 7.99 euros, and the annual subscription will now cost 89.90 euros instead of 69.00 euros. The increase will take effect from September 15 of this year or "at the earliest when your next payment is due, on or after September 15, 2022".

This is the first price increase since 2017. It is justified with inflation and the resulting "general and significant changes in costs". Customers now have 30 days to cancel their Prime membership free of charge. "If you do not object to this change, we will assume that you accept the updated membership fees."
