Cinema attendance exceeds pre-Covid levels

Not only is the crisis over, but the situation is even better than before. The National Center for Cinematography (CNC) announced that, for the first time in April, monthly cinema attendance exceeded its pre-health crisis levels in France, with 19.01 million moviegoers in theaters.

Attendance is up 37.8% compared to April 2022, and 2.7% compared to the 2017-2019 average, according to these figures. Since the beginning of the year, attendance has increased by a total of a third compared to last year, but remains down 14% compared to pre-pandemic years.

In April, theater attendance was driven by the success of Super Mario Bros. The film, released earlier this month and surpassing 4.8 million admissions, as well as The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Thieves.
