The Paris judicial court pronounced the acquittal, Tuesday October 17, of the star influencer Jeremstar, who was accused by a former collaborator of “concealed work”.
The trial of Jérémy Gisclon (his real name), opened in March 2022, followed a complaint filed two years earlier by photographer Bruno Etenna, who presented himself as having worked “as a director” on more than two hundred videos between 2012 and 2017. For these filmings, Bruno Etenna claimed, according to Agence France-Prese, to have “never been declared” nor “paid”, with the exception of a few expenses. The influencer who made himself known by chronicling reality TV “easily admitted to having never paid his ex-collaborator” during an audition, recalls Le Parisien.
On Tuesday, the 31st chamber of the Paris Criminal Court concluded that Jérémy Gisclon and Bruno Etenna were in a “position of equality” and that there did not exist a link of “legal subordination” between the two friends. She adds: “nothing forced Mr. Etenna to continue” since he was not in a situation of “economic dependence” on Jeremstar, an extremely popular personality on YouTube and Snapchat where he built his celebrity. Mr. Gisclon is also followed on Instagram by more than 2.4 million followers, and by another 2 million on TikTok.
The court therefore did not follow the prosecution which had requested, at the hearing on September 5, three months' imprisonment with a two-year probationary suspension and a fine of 5,000 euros for the defendant.
