Summer hit 2022: Which songs have the potential for it?

The market research institute GfK Entertainment, which determines the official German charts, chooses the official summer hit for Germany every year. This year there are several songs that provide the sound for the sunny days. There doesn't seem to be a clear favorite - so far. These are the hottest contenders:

At the beginning of June, Spotify dared to predict which hits will accompany us through the summer of 2022. "As It Was" by Harry Styles (28) is currently at the top of the international "Songs of Summer" list. The superstar mixes the sound of the 80s with lyrics about loneliness and the past.

Also at the top: Lizzo (34) and her hit "About Damn Time". She ranks second in the "Songs of Summer" list on Spotify. Lizzo spreads a good mood with her mega voice and the lyrics: "It's about damn time / Turn up the music, let's party."

Spotify has also created a list for Germany: The "summer hits 2022" leads singer Leony (25) with "Remedy". The love song with vibrant beats is definitely part of this year's soundtrack of the summer - catchy tune guaranteed!

In second place on the German list is KAMRAD (25) with his song "I Believe". The singer-songwriter also worries about love: "I'd rather fall asleep than fall in love / and I believe that someone in my bed is not enough." The bittersweet song is perfect for long car rides in the summer sun.

Since their ESC victory in 2021, Måneskin have been on everyone's lips. The rockers from Italy have delivered another hit with their song "Supermodel", which can also be found in the "Songs of Summer" on Spotify. Tip for the summer party: turn up Damiano David's (23) rough voice - and rock!

Latin singer Bad Bunny (28) and the band Bomba Estéreo are providing the beach vibes this summer with their reggaeton song "Ojitos Lindos". If you are not on vacation at the moment, you can at least bring the sea and the beach into your living room with the music videos.

One of the biggest summer songs of the year is "I Like You (A Happier Song)" by Post Malone (27) and Doja Cat (26). It is not without reason that the two superstars also ended up in Spotify's "Song of Summer".

The rappers Kendrick Lamar (35), Blxst (29) and singer Amanda Reifer (31) have created a rather calm song with a catchy beat. "Die Hard" is about the question of whether love will hold up if you open up with all your quirks and mistakes.

Camila Cabello (25) and Ed Sheeran (31) released the hit "Bam Bam" in spring. But it also runs up and down in the summer playlists. It's a song with a simple but important message: Life goes on even after the greatest heartbreak: "Love came and it blew my mind / But I'm back on my feet / (...) I could hardly stand, but now I'm dancing."

Another song should not be missing from this list: "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush (63). The song was originally released in 1985, but made a big comeback this year with the series "Stranger Things". The hit re-entered the charts in numerous countries.

And right at the end: Even the Ballermann does not stop at the big contenders for the summer hit. DJ Robin's controversial song "Layla" has been out for five weeks
