"The Wheel of Time" keeps turning! The fantasy series with Rosamund Pike (43), which is based on the novel series of the same name by the US author Robert Jordan (1948-2007), is getting a sequel. Streaming service Prime Video confirmed a third season at Comic-Con in San Diego ahead of the release of season two's start date.

According to showrunner and producer Rafe Judkins, the new episodes will follow the events of the fourth book in the series. "The Shadow Rises" has always been Judkins' "favorite book". Bringing this to television is "such an honor" for him.

It is still not known when the second season will be available. The series makers were at least able to give an insight into the new episodes at Comic-Con. The first season of "The Wheel of Time" has been available on Prime Video since November 2021. The series is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television.

The story is set in a world where magic exists, but only single women can use it. The focus is on Moiraine (Pike), who is a member of the organization Aes Sedai and embarks on a dangerous journey with five young women and men. A fellow passenger is a reborn dragon who will destroy or save humanity.
