Operating a vehicle while impaired, Lorain Road: Police stopped a car about 9:20 p.m. Feb. 13 for erratic driving. After approaching the car, the officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol and the driver appeared intoxicated. The female driver failed a field sobriety test and an alcohol breath test revealed a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.18. The woman was charged with weaving and operating a vehicle while impaired.
Driving without a license, I-480: An officer stopped a westbound car about 1:30 a.m. Feb. 17 after the car began to change lanes, forcing the officer to brake to avoid a collision. The 17-year-old driver said he didn't have his license with him. A passenger also was inside the car. The passenger stated the teen driver agreed to take him home. The driver was cited for driving without a license and failing to drive within marked lanes.
Driving under suspension, Lorain Road: An officer stopped a pickup truck about 4 a.m. Feb. 17 after noticing it did not have a rear license plate light. The officer cited the driver after learning his driver's license had been suspended.
Theft, Brookpark Road: Walmart employees called police about a suspected shoplifter about 7 p.m. Feb. 13. A loss prevention officer told officers he watched a male suspect take food items, razors and batteries and leave the store without paying. The merchandise was valued at more than $118. The suspect was apologetic, according to police. He is charged with theft.
