No appeal: AfD fine accepted because of the donations affair

The AfD does not want to pursue the litigation in order to illicit donations for their Chairman Jörg Meuthen more. The party will dispense with the formal already announced to appeal in the matter now, said a spokesman on Friday. Previously, the Federal Executive of the party had taken during a session in the Thuringian town of Suhl a decision. According to the figures, eight members supported the resolution, three voted against, two members abstained.

At the meeting of the Brandenburg AfD group chief Andreas Kalbitz took part according to the speaker. The Federal Executive had declared his membership because of previous contacts in the extreme right-wing Milieu, null and void. He is, however, legal defense.

In the donation process, it comes to posters and other election campaign actions in favour of Meuthen in the year 2016. The Bundestag administration saw it as a party donation and imposed a sanction in the amount of nearly 270,000 euros. Also, the Berlin administrative court agreed with this.

"According to the legal evaluation, it is – after a hearing and, in the meantime, the present verdict of justification – rather doubtful that we would win with our understanding of the law in other instances," stated the AfD. To prevent, therefore, and a "bagging operation" as a "party donations affair" in an election year 2021, have you decided now to take this step. The AfD think the penalty decision and the dismissal of its action, however, for "factually incorrect and challenge value".
