Alleged military target: Moscow confirms missile attack on Dnipro

According to Ukrainian sources, three people died in rocket attacks on the city of Dnipro. A busy street is said to have been hit. Moscow confirms the attack - but speaks of an attack on a factory for spare parts.

The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed Ukraine's previously reported missile attack on the industrial city of Dnipro in eastern Ukraine. However, Moscow spoke of a military target of the night shelling, which according to Ukrainian sources killed three people and injured 15.

On the premises of the Yuzhmash armaments group, factories for the production of spare parts and repairs of Tochka-U ballistic missiles were destroyed, said Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.

According to Kyiv, the shelling was aimed at an industrial area in the metropolis. However, a busy street in the area was also hit, said the head of the Dnipro military administration, Valentyn Resnichenko, previously on his Telegram channel. The information provided by both warring parties cannot be verified independently at this time.

Resnichenko also reported an attack on Nikopol, some 120 kilometers south of Dnipro. Russian forces fired 53 Grad missiles at the city, he said. According to the local emergency services and the regional governor, two people were killed. The dead were found under the rubble of hit buildings.

At least 24 people, including three children, were killed in a Russian rocket attack on the city of Vinnytsia in western Ukraine on Thursday, according to the latest information. More than 70 people are still in the hospital, some seriously injured. Moscow then also referred to the shelling of a military target in the city. The US rejected this account. "I have no indication that a military target was anywhere near there," said a senior US Department of Defense official.
