Not only states equip Ukraine with tanks, but also private individuals can do it. With donations of several million euros, a TV presenter buys numerous armored vehicles. The first should already be in the country.
In Ukraine, the fund of the well-known comedian and TV presenter Serhiy Prytula claims to have purchased over 100 used armored vehicles to support the army in the fight against Russia. "The first part - 24 vehicles - is already in Ukraine," said a press release. The 41-year-old appeared in a video with the armored but unarmed tracked vehicles of eight different types in the background.
These were purchased and processed in Great Britain, it said. According to its own statements, the fund had raised the equivalent of 5.8 million euros within a day and a half after a call for donations in November.
The same organization had previously collected money for three Bayraktar (German: standard bearer) combat drones. The name of the action: "People's Bayraktar". When the Turkish manufacturer provided the drones free of charge, the money was used to rent a Finnish reconnaissance satellite. According to the Fund, over 2,600 enemy targets have already been detected.
For more than a year, Ukraine has been fighting off a Russian war of aggression with Western help. As a result, according to government figures, 38 percent of the Ukrainian state budget was financed from abroad in 2022.
