While a 14-year-old teenager, suspected of preparing a violent action plan in the name of Daesh, was arrested on Tuesday April 4 in Rosenau, in the Haut-Rhin, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin took stock Wednesday on the terrorist threat on French territory. "There have been 41 foiled attacks since 2017, about ten since 2020. The terrorist threat is extremely strong," he explained on BFMTV, answering questions from journalist Apolline de Malherbe.

The number of foiled attacks is global. It concerns the projects of Islamist attacks, but also of the ultra-right and the ultra-left. “The Islamist terrorist threat is very strong. The threat from the ultra-right is also very strong. There have been nine foiled far-right attacks since 2017,” he added. "The threat from the ultra-left, it's strong too. At the end of 2020, there was – and these people are in court – a threat from the ultra-left of people who wanted to attack law enforcement. »

In addition, the Minister of the Interior recalled that the arrest of the minor in the Haut-Rhin was not the first arrest as part of an investigation into a planned terrorist attack in recent days.
