Austria and France are relaxing the measures to combat the corona virus. In Austria, the obligation to isolate for those who tested positive will fall on August 1st. In France, the Senate voted to lift all corona measures from August 1st.
"We are now making traffic restrictions instead of mandatory quarantine," said Health Minister Johannes Rauch in Vienna. In Austria, people who have tested positive for the corona virus and do not feel sick will be allowed to leave the house in the future, as Rauch announced at a press conference. However, they must wear an FFP2 mask - except when they are outdoors and can keep a distance of two meters from other people.
It is therefore also possible to work with a positive test - but only in professions in which a mask can be worn. The regulations already apply to a positive rapid test. If this is not confirmed by a PCR test, they are dropped again. The decision was also made with a view to the psychological and social consequences of the Corona crisis, said Rauch. Anxiety and depression have increased worldwide.
Rauch spoke of a "new phase of the pandemic" in which it could be fought with vaccinations and medication. However, he also urged caution: "Anyone who is sick stays at home." The seven-day incidence in Austria is around 900 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and week above the German value. Compared to the summer of last year, significantly more patients have to be cared for in the hospitals.
In France, the parliament passed a law that stipulates the end of all corona measures from August 1st. However, the possibility of mandatory corona tests at national borders remains.
