Package bomb attack in Africa: Wagner boss considers France a terrorist sponsor

A package explodes, injuring the director of a Russian cultural center in Bangui, Moscow said. For the mercenary boss Prigozhin France is behind the attack. He speaks of a telltale note. France and the USA have previously warned of strengthened Wagner troops in Africa.

According to Russian sources, the head of a Russian cultural center in the Central African Republic was injured in an attack with a package bomb. "This morning an attempt was made on the life of the director general of the Russian House, Dmitri Sergeyevich Siti, who is in hospital," the Russian news agency TASS quoted the spokesman for the embassy in Bangui as saying. The head of the Russian mercenary group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, then accused France of being behind the attack.

He called on the Russian government to classify France as a sponsor of terrorism. "I have already asked the Russian Foreign Ministry to initiate the process of declaring France a state sponsor of terrorism," Prigozhin was quoted as saying in a statement released by his company Concord. In addition, Prigozhin called for "a thorough investigation into the terrorist methods of France and its western allies - the USA and others".

According to Russian sources, Siti had opened a package addressed to him without a sender, which contained a bomb. This was announced by a spokesman for the Russian embassy in Bangui. The explosive device exploded and seriously injured Siti, which is why he was taken to a hospital.

Wagner founder Prigozhin explained that shortly before he passed out, Siti said that he had seen a note. This read: "This is for you from all French. The Russians will disappear from Africa". Western countries like France and the US have expressed concern that the Wagner troupe is becoming more active in Africa. They accuse the mercenaries of exploiting natural resources and violating human rights.
