After counting the first remaining ballot letters in the Berlin district of Lichtenberg, there is a stalemate between two direct candidates in one case. In constituency 3, the CDU candidate, Dennis Haustein, and the left candidate, Claudia Engelmann, are tied. So far, the direct mandate has been awarded to the CDU based on the provisional result.
The two were only ten votes apart. Of the first votes that have now been counted, 35 went to Engelmann and 25 to Haustein. According to the state election law, in the event of a tie, the draw of the district returning officer would have to decide, as first reported by Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB). The district election committee in Lichtenberg is scheduled to hold a public meeting on Monday afternoon.
