Payment date still open: Students can apply for an energy flat-rate from March 15th

The federal government relieves numerous citizens due to the increased inflation. Millions of students and technical students have been left out for a long time. Now, at least, there is a date from which they can apply for the energy flat rate. However, they do not yet know when the money will end up in their account.

Students and technical students should be able to apply for the long-awaited energy price flat rate of 200 euros from March 15th. All federal states had agreed on the uniform start for this, said the State Chancellery of Saxony-Anhalt. The federal state has developed the digital platform, which is to be used by around 3.5 million people who are entitled to apply nationwide. Some federal states want to test the process in real operation beforehand. It is still unclear when the money will actually end up in the account of those affected.

Federal Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger had previously noted that the federal states are now responsible for implementing the energy price flat rate. "We've done our homework, and I hope that the federal states will now take responsibility for doing the homework quickly," said the FDP politician. According to the Federal Ministry of Education, the platform could be launched as early as February. Ultimately, the states would have to decide whether to wait until all 16 federal states were ready to go, or to allow applications to be submitted individually.

Headwind came from Bavaria - the states would take every hurdle that the federal government put in their way, said Science Minister Markus Blume. "The fact that there is already a payment platform at all is only thanks to the state of Saxony-Anhalt and the cooperation of the states. The tutoring that the federal government has needed here in the last few months has been enormous."

The students and technical students need a BundID account for identification for the application. With the start of the procedure, they should automatically receive access data for the application platform www.einmalzahlen200.de from their training facility. There they deposit their account details. The platform should also be able to be used for other future federal payments to citizens. The traffic light coalition had already agreed on the 200-euro special payment for students and technical students in September. A law was finally passed in mid-December.
