Will the Brittany region expand its borders? Three bills from the Liot group (Freedoms, independents, overseas territories and territories) are on the menu of the Assembly's law commission, Wednesday, May 31, for their debate in session on June 8.
The first two will take some time. The first in particular, carried by the deputy for the North, Benjamin Saint-Huile, who proposes, in order to "strengthen the commitment and participation of citizens in democratic life", nothing less than to recognize the blank vote and to return the vote … OBLIGATORY.
We will pass here on the second, a more technical text already voted by the Senate, to go to that which suggests consulting the inhabitants of a department on the choice of their region of belonging. Because, very concretely, it would make it possible to sound out the voters of Loire-Atlantique on their link to Brittany.
Defended by the regionalist Paul Molac (Morbihan, Liot), it is transpartisan, since it was co-signed by twenty-five Breton deputies. Elected representatives of the majority, such as Erwan Balanant (Finistère, MoDem), who will be co-rapporteur, but also Yannick Haury (Loire-Atlantique, Renaissance), Thierry Benoit (Ille-et-Vilaine, Horizons) or Mickaël Cosson (Côtes-d 'Armor, MoDem), but also opposition groups, such as Ségolène Amiot (Loire-Atlantique, LFI), Mickaël Bouloux (Ille-et-Vilaine, PS), Jean-Luc Bourgeaux (Ille-et-Vilaine, LR) or Marc Le Fur (Côtes-d'Armor, LR). This can give hope to these co-signers that their initiative will prosper...
Especially since this proposal, which could have applications in other regions of France, is presented according to the legislative procedure in committee. That is, amendments to its two articles will be discussed in committee but there will only be general discussion in session.
