Salary not paid ?: Ex-Juve star Dybala threatens the club with a lawsuit worth millions

Juventus Turin is already in serious trouble because of investigations into alleged financial fraud, and world champion Paulo Dybala also reports. The club still owes him a salary in the millions, reports the striker. He threatens Juve with a lawsuit.

Argentinian soccer world champion Paulo Dybala has threatened his ex-club Juventus with a lawsuit. The 29-year-old AS Roma striker is demanding €3.7m from Juve, which he is said to have been contractually guaranteed. The Italian media report.

During the Corona pandemic, Juve had allegedly agreed to a salary waiver with the players - but in fact the payments should only be suspended and made later. In this way, the club is said to have embellished the balance sheets.

The offensive star Dybala played for Juventus from 2015 to 2022, then switched to Roma on a free transfer. Should Juve not pay the 3.7 million euros by the end of April, Dybala's lawyer Luca Ferrari wants to file a lawsuit.

According to "Gazzetta dello Sport", the lawyer asked Juve to pay compensation because Dybala's contract in Turin had not been extended. The club promised Dybala a new contract with an annual salary of eight million euros plus bonuses. However, there was no extension and Dybala then switched to AS Roma.

Juventus has long been rocked by investigations into alleged financial misconduct. At the beginning of December, the entire club management around President Andrea Agnelli and former Vice President Pavel Nedved resigned after allegations of accounting fraud. The Italian record champions are said to have embellished their balance sheets with completely overpriced player transfers - by hundreds of millions of euros. The prosecutors want to shed light on the events that are said to have brought capital gains of 282 million euros in three years for the club, which is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.

The investigation is also aimed at Agnelli and Nedved. Because of the scandal, Juve have been deducted 15 points this season. The club has little chance of participating in the European Cup. However, this would still be possible if Juve wins the Europa League. The winner qualifies for the Champions League.
