Achraf Hakimi smiled at his award during Monday night's FIFA elections, but the Paris St. Germain full-back is currently facing serious allegations. The public prosecutor's office is investigating a possible rape.
The Moroccan national football player Achraf Hakimi is being investigated for rape. A source familiar with the matter from the AFP news agency confirmed a corresponding report in the French daily newspaper "Le Parisien". Accordingly, a young woman is said to have stated that she was raped at the player's house in a suburb of Paris. She did not file a complaint, but due to the seriousness of the allegation, the Nanterre public prosecutor's office took action.
Late Monday evening, Hakimi appeared on stage at the FIFA World Association Awards in Paris. The ex-Dortmunder was voted into the FIFPro team of the year 2022 as a defender. He stood alongside his PSG teammates Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé. Hakimi is particularly close friends with Mbappé. The full-back has been playing for Bayern Munich's Champions League opponent Paris St. Germain since 2021. From 2018 to 2020 he was in the service of Borussia Dortmund. With Morocco he sensationally reached the semi-finals as captain at the World Cup in Qatar.
Hakimi isn't the only soccer star facing serious charges right now. Brazilian soccer player Dani Alves is in custody in Spain on charges of rape. A 23-year-old woman accused him of raping her in a Barcelona nightclub on December 30. He was therefore arrested on January 20 during a visit to Barcelona. Alves had initially denied any sexual contact. His lawyer later stated that the sexual acts had taken place with the woman's consent.
