Surrey sign New Zealand Celebrity Kyle Jamieson for Vitality Blast and County Championship

Surrey have signed the New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson as a foreign player for seven Vitality Blast and two LV= Insurance County Championship matches.

Surrey dropped their overseas player, the Australian Sean Abbott, to injury last week, also Direcor of Cricket Alec Stewart has moved quickly to secure an impressive signing.

Jamieson, the giant seamer, will combine up with Surrey following the World Test Championship final second week, in time for the London derby against Middlesex in the Blast on June 25.

He will see out he Blast campaign, in addition to playing with two Championship matches -- against Hampshire at The Ageas Bowl from July 4 and against Somerset at The Kia Oval per week later.

"I am very excited to have the opportunity to play some county cricket after the Black Caps tour," said Jamieson. "Originally I did not think this opportunity could be possible using the program this season, but with how things have unfolded it's great to be able to combine Surrey and expertise equally T20 and first-class cricket.

"Playing county cricket is something I have always wanted to do in my profession, so to have the opportunity to do so today is awesome. I have heard a great deal of great things about county cricket, especially T20 Blast nights at The Kia Oval, also can not wait to take the chance with Surrey to continue to learn and grow whilst trying my very best to contribute to the teams' success."

Jamieson was remarkable in the drawn first Test against England at Lord's, and was rested for the second at Edgbaston, with all the World Test Championship final in mind. He has a Test average of just 15, and is a highly-sought after T20 player, was picked up at great cost by Royal Challengers Bangalore this year.

Stewart explained:"Kyle is a top excellent cricketer and we very much look forward to him joining us when his commitments with New Zealand have finished."

Jamieson was linked with a move to Hampshire earlier this season.
