It doesn't have to be an iPad: Good new Android tablets from 180 to 400 euros

Anyone looking for a new and good tablet does not have to buy an iPad. Stiftung Warentest tested ten current Android devices, six of which received a grade of 2. The cheapest of these costs just under 180 euros, the test winner around 400 euros.

The Apple iPad Pro 11" (3rd gen.), the iPad Pro 12.9" (5th gen.) and the Samsung models Galaxy S8 5G and S8 Ultra 5G lead the best tablet list from Stiftung Warentest with an overall grade of 1 .7 on. At prices between 830 and 1300 euros, however, you have to spend a lot of money for them and they are actually overpowered for normal requirements. The most recent test by Stiftung Warentest of ten current Android tablets shows that you can buy good devices for a lot less money.

The test winner is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite LTE, which achieved an overall rating of 2.3. With an online price of just under 400 euros, it is also the most expensive of the ten tested devices and is the only one with a stylus. The tablet is very durable, display, functionality and handling were rated as good. Only the versatility did not go beyond satisfactory due to the lack of pre-installed apps.

The reviewers chose the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus (3rd generation) as the price-performance winner, which is currently available online from around 210 euros. Overall, it received the quality rating of 2.2 and, like the test winner, performed well in all categories except for versatility.

The Huawei MatePad 10.4 (2022) has an even bigger problem with versatility, which costs about the same and should actually be the price tip with an overall rating of 2.1. Among other things, it has the best display among the test candidates. But because the Chinese manufacturer is not allowed to use Google Android and Google services due to US sanctions, the range of apps on its tablets is significantly restricted.

If you are looking for a smaller tablet, you will find a good tablet in the Realme Pad Mini LTE. The device with an 8.7-inch screen achieved the quality rating of 2.3 and costs around 170 euros with 64 gigabytes of memory. Its battery performance is very good, functionality and display are good. The testers found the handling and versatility satisfactory.

In general, the foundation recommends making sure that a device receives software updates for as long as possible and can therefore be used for longer. Most recently, Samsung and Apple were ahead in the product test. The three bigger winners were equipped with the latest operating systems (Android 12/ HarmonyOS 2) at the time of the test; only Android 11 was installed on the compact Realme tablet.
