CLINTON TWP. - Thomas Volkmann, Jr., 27, of Frenchtown, was arrested and charged with DWI after being involved in an accident on Route 31, police said.
Volkmann, driving a 2004 Nissan Titan, struck the rear of a 2014 Infiniti QX60 driven by a 49-year-old township resident on Route 31 south at Allerton Road at 4:55 p.m. on Feb. 18, police said.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and both had to be towed from the roadway.
Police said they smelled alcohol on Volkmann's breath. He was also issued a motor-vehicle summons for careless driving and released pending a court appearance, police said.
