Baden-Württemberg: Hoffmeister-Kraut advertises in South America for the southwest

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The Baden-Württemberg Economics Minister Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut (CDU) begins a multi-day trip to South America on Wednesday. The goal of the delegation with 30 participants is Chile and Brazil, as the ministry announced in Stuttgart.

The visit should be used to further consolidate the country's pioneering role in green technologies and climate protection, said the CDU politician. Chile and Brazil are important potential producers of green hydrogen and have valuable raw materials. Both countries are interesting cooperation partners.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) was also traveling in South America a few days ago. He wanted to give new impetus to the free trade agreement between the European Union and the South American confederation Mercosur, which also includes Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

Hoffmeister-Kraut said: "In these times it is right and important to intensify and expand trade relations." She very much welcomes the fact that the stalled negotiations for a free trade agreement between the EU and the Mercosur countries are getting moving again.
