Baden-Württemberg: World War II bomb successfully blown up in Pforzheim

Pforzheim (dpa/lsw) - A bomb from the Second World War was successfully detonated in Pforzheim on Sunday. The Soviet anti-tank missile (PPG2) was blown up by the explosive ordnance disposal service at around 6.45 p.m., the city of Pforzheim announced in the evening. "From now on, the evacuated residents can also return to their houses and apartments safely and without risk," it said. The dud was found by pedestrians on Davosweg. It had to be blown up by the experts because it was unsuitable for transport.

The site was blocked in a radius of 150 meters, around 40 people had to leave their homes. "All the emergency services did a great job, reacted very carefully and quickly. I thank you very much for that," said Mayor Dirk Büscher, according to the announcement. A total of around 80 emergency services from the fire brigade, rescue service, police and city administration were deployed.
