Bayern: Greuther Fürth back on the training ground

Fürth (dpa / lby) - After 18 days of vacation, the footballers of SpVgg Greuther Fürth started the first part of their second half preparation. Led by defense chief Sebastian Griesbeck, the second division team entered the training ground on Kronacher Straße in their neon green outfits on Sunday morning. After signing autographs for the fans, Alexander Zorniger's team immediately got to work. At the start of the second half of the season on January 28th in Kiel, the Franconians wanted to continue their upward trend.

"All the players are currently fit, which of course makes us very happy. Until Christmas, the focus is now primarily on physical work," said Zorniger. "I hope the lads have been able to switch off and regenerate a little over the past few days so that they can now start the second half of the season full of energy."

With three wins and one draw, the cloverleaf had recently worked their way up from the bottom of the table to tenth place. Nevertheless, the Bundesliga relegated remains on the alert: The lead over a relegation zone is only three points in the narrow second division.

On Friday, Fürth will play its first friendly against Bayernliga side ATSV Erlangen. Before the Christmas break, further trials of strength will follow at third division club FC Ingolstadt and at Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. From January 4th to 12th, the game association travels to the training camp in Belek.
