Bayern: Regensburg wants to "stay on the accelerator" against Nürnberger

Regensburg (dpa/lby) - SSV Jahn Regensburg wants to take the momentum from the brilliant start of the season into the Bavarian second division duel with 1. FC Nuremberg. "When you go through a phase like this, you have to keep your foot on the gas pedal," demanded Jahn coach Mersad Selimbegovic before the home football game against the "Club" on Saturday (1 p.m.). "But we mustn't be too euphoric and think that it will continue like this on its own," warned the 40-year-old.

With two victories in the league and success in the first round of the DFB Cup, the Upper Palatinate started the new season confidently. But in Nuremberg there is now a "very young, willing and talented" team, as Selimbegovic said. "They have this mix of experience and young and wild. It will be 100 percent intense," warned the soccer coach of the top team.

Except for the long-term injured Oscar Schönfelder and Sarpreet Singh, all Regensburg players are fit, reported Selimbegovic. "The motto is: take everything you can with you."
