Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The joy of the sovereign victory at VC Wiesbaden and reaching the cup semifinals was followed by a small damper on Saturday evening. The volleyball players of SSC Palmberg Schwerin were assigned the most difficult task imaginable in the round of the best four teams: On December 10th, the SSC has to compete against champion and cup defender Allianz MTV Stuttgart for a place in the final. Aachen and Potsdam face each other in the second semi-final.
The task for the SSC at MTV is likely to be much more difficult than the quarter-finals in Wiesbaden. After the 3:0 (25:20, 25:14, 25:20) victory, head coach Felix Koslowski emphasized: "I'm very satisfied with the performance of my team. We put a lot of pressure on the serve, so Wiesbaden had a hard time build up a game at all. Our assumption was stable and we were able to serve all attacking positions well."
The women from Schwerin were also able to take revenge for the knockout round last year in Wiesbaden. After five away games including the cup, the SSC can play again in their own hall next Wednesday (6.30 p.m.). Opponent in the Bundesliga is again the VC Wiesbaden.
