The deputy of Ciudadanos in Congress Miguel Gutiérrez has communicated this Thursday his decision to resign from the position of member and member of the Autonomous Committee of the party in the Community of Madrid due to discrepancies with the regional coordinator, Begoña Villacís, and his "personal wishes", as confirmed by himself to Europa Press.

The deputy mayor of Madrid asked the leadership of Ciudadanos to give local groups freedom to decide how they compete in the municipal elections in May, without ruling out the option of allying or integrating with the 'popular', and went so far as to defend that Ciudadanos resign from its acronyms. After the controversy, this Wednesday she announced that she remains in Ciudadanos and that she will run in the primaries to become a candidate for the Madrid City Council again.

In a letter addressed to the party's general secretary, Adrián Vázquez, forwarded by 'The Objective', Gutiérrez laments Villacís's "various statements, public and private, regarding the suitability" of the acronym for Ciudadanos to participate in an electoral process and "her request for pre-electoral pacts", of which she recalls that they are "contrary to the postulates and statutes that were born, just two weeks before, from an Extraordinary Congress in which she had been coordinator of the entire refounding process."

All this makes it impossible for the deputy, spokesman for the Interior and Defense of the 'orange' party in the Lower House, to share a work space such as an Autonomous Committee, in which the internal management of groups and affiliates must prevail. , before personal desires, no matter how legitimate these may be".

Gutiérrez, who was part of Edmundo Bal's list to lead the party, also regrets that a meeting of the regional committee has been called to approve the candidacies for other mayors in the region without its members having received "any information about said candidates." .

In the Community of Madrid, it is only necessary to hold primaries for the electoral poster for the capital and for the Presidency of the region, but the rest of the candidates should be debated in the regional committee of the party.

And Gutiérrez reproaches Vázquez for collaborating in the strategy of the regional coordinator and deputy mayor: "It is paradoxical that at the same time you are going to meet with said candidates, before they have been appointed by the committee itself," he points out, emphasizing that this way of proceeding "discredits" the body and its members in Madrid.

In any case, Gutiérrez has conveyed his intention to continue developing his work in Congress, where he had already distanced himself from the current leadership due to his affinity with Edmundo Bal, while Villacís is currently part of the Executive that emerged victorious from that process, with Vázquez and Patricia Guasp at the helm.
