A fertility clinic exchanges by mistake the embryos of two couples

A couple of Los Angeles on Monday presented a complaint against a clinic specialized in in vitro fertilization (FIV) after realizing that two fertilized ovules were exchanged and that they had the daughter of another family. It is the actress Daphna Cardinale and her husband Alexander, singer, who already had a daughter in common.

When Daphna and Alexander saw his newborn baby for the first time, in September 2019, immediately noticed that the girl had the darker skin and hair than the rest of the family, tells her lawyers.

"The genetic tests revealed that the baby that Alexander and Daphna had given birth and raised for several months had no genetic relationship with them, his baby was the biological daughter of strangers," added the company Peiffer Wolf.

According to the demand presented on Monday in a court of angels, embryos of two unrelated couples were exchanged, allegedly due to negligence.

After discovering the error, the two couples met and decided to recover the custody of their genetic children, in an exchange formalized by the courts.

However, the error left footprints and suffering, argues Cardinal Marriage in his complaint, which claims damages.

"The birth of our daughter should have been one of the happiest moments of my life. But I immediately felt shocked and disturbed for not recognizing her," Alexander Cardinale lamented.

"When the truth was known, to exchange the children did it even more disturbing, losing the child you know about the genetic child that you still do not know is really an impossible nightmare," he recognizes.
