Austrian Chancellor, Karl Nehammer, Positive by Coronavirus

The Federal Chancellor of Austria, the conservative Karl Nehammer, has given positive for Coronavirus and is in quarantine, for the time being without symptoms, the Austrian Government reported this Friday.

The head of government seems to have infected a person from his security team, explains the executive in the note.

Nehammer, 49, three times vaccinated and Federal Chancellor for a month, does not show symptoms for the infection for now, so he continues his work from his home.

"Do not worry, I feel good," he cites the official statement to the Austrian head of government.

"My appeal remains the same: they come to vaccination, reinforce their vaccines. This protects with great probability against a serious evolution (of the disease)," Nehammer concluded.

Austria is located in the fifth wave of the pandemic, with a strong climb of cases by the new variant omicron, which has raised the incidence of infections up to about 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days.

70% of the population of the Central European country has been vaccinated so far with the full guideline and 43% with three doses.
